Srinagar, October 7: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said he would discuss the proposed cabinet expansion with National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah after attending the GST Council meeting in New Delhi.

According to the Chief Minister, the government had earlier indicated that the expansion of the Council of Ministers would take place after the conclusion of the Assembly session, which has now ended.

Omar said he would take up the matter with the party president following his return from the GST Council meeting, indicating that discussions on the cabinet expansion could move forward soon.

The proposed expansion is expected to be an important political development for the ruling National Conference-led government in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Minister's remarks came amid questions over the timeline for filling ministerial positions and strengthening the government’s administrative and political functioning.

However, Omar did not announce a specific date for the cabinet expansion. The final decision is expected to follow consultations with the party leadership.
