
Srinagar, July 5: A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK) yesterday called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, at Lok Bhawan, Srinagar.
The CCIK delegation was led by President Tarik Ghani and comprised Showkat Choudhary, Advisor to CCIK; Shah Adnan, Secretary General; Bhat Ashiq, Coordinator; and Umar Jan Wani, Convener, CCIK.
During the meeting, the delegation held detailed discussions with the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor on a wide range of issues concerning trade, commerce, industry, tourism, and the overall business environment in Jammu & Kashmir. CCIK submitted a comprehensive memorandum highlighting the challenges being faced by the business community and put forward several suggestions aimed at promoting economic growth, improving the ease of doing business, and strengthening the trade ecosystem in the Union Territory.
The delegation emphasized the need for timely intervention on various issues affecting traders, industrialists, and entrepreneurs and requested the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor to extend all possible support for the sustained growth of the business sector.
CCIK also expressed its sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor for his proactive intervention in the recent decision concerning Srinagar International Airport. The Chamber appreciated the withdrawal of the proposed weekly runway closure, stating that the decision would ensure uninterrupted flight operations and provide significant relief to the tourism sector, trade, and the overall economy of Kashmir. The delegation acknowledged that this timely decision reflects the administration’s commitment to addressing the concerns of stakeholders and supporting the region’s economic revival.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the delegation and assured them that the concerns highlighted in the memorandum would be examined sympathetically and that appropriate steps would be taken in the larger interest of the business community and the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
