
Budgam, August 6: A cloudburst was reported in the Raiyar-Doodhpathri area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Thursday following an intense spell of rainfall, prompting authorities to closely monitor the situation.
The sudden weather event caused a sharp rise in the flow of local streams, raising concerns among residents living in nearby areas. Officials said teams are assessing the situation to determine whether the cloudburst has caused any damage.
No casualties or major property damage were reported immediately after the incident. However, authorities said assessment teams have been mobilised as a precautionary measure to evaluate the impact.
In view of the continuing spell of intermittent heavy rainfall across several parts of Kashmir, the administration has advised residents and visitors to avoid venturing near nallahs, streams and other vulnerable locations until weather conditions improve.
