Srinagar, Oct 31: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has submitted a chargesheet against two individuals accused of allegedly cheating several job seekers of more than Rs 15 lakh by offering them employment opportunities abroad.
The chargesheet has been filed before the Court of PT&E, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 32/2026 registered under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC and Sections 10/24 of the Emigration Act.
The accused have been identified as Sajad Abdullah Sheikh, a resident of Hamdaniya Colony, Bemina, and Jahangir Ahmad Tanky of Sheshgari Mohalla, Khanyar.
As per the investigation, the accused were running M/s Al-Aqsa Global Services Pvt. Ltd., situated at Moomin-Abad, Lane-04, Batamaloo. They allegedly assured complainants of securing well-paid jobs with reputed companies abroad and collected advance amounts exceeding Rs 15 lakh. However, the promised jobs were not arranged, and cheques issued towards repayment reportedly bounced due to insufficient funds.
Investigators found that the company was registered to provide excursion and tour and travel services but did not hold the mandatory licence to operate as an overseas recruitment agency. The probe also established that the collected money was transferred into the personal bank accounts of the two accused.
The EOW stated that Jahangir Ahmad Tanky has remained untraceable since 2025 despite repeated efforts to locate him.
Following the completion of the investigation, the allegations were found substantiated and the chargesheet was submitted before the competent court for further legal proceedings.
The SSP EOW Kashmir has appealed to job seekers to check the registration and credentials of recruitment agencies before accepting overseas employment offers or making advance payments.
