Srinagar, Jan 30: The disruption of CT scan services at Super Speciality Hospital, Sheeren Bagh, has sparked controversy after hospital authorities claimed the unit is fully functional, with only a minor technical fault in the injector affecting less than two percent of daily procedures.
However, a CT scan requisition form dated January 29, 2026, accessed by Kashmir News Trust (KNT), contradicts the hospital’s claims. The form, signed by a consultant, indicates a patient required a CT scan, but the investigation was not conducted, forcing the patient to return without treatment.
Medical experts emphasize that the injector is critical for contrast-enhanced CT scans, angiography, trauma, stroke, and cancer diagnostics. Without it, urgent and life-saving investigations cannot be performed, affecting a significant number of patients.
Residents report that nearly 100 patients are turned away daily, many traveling long distances in harsh winter conditions, incurring financial and medical hardships.
The discrepancy between hospital claims and patient experiences raises concerns about transparency, accountability, and patient care. Patients have urged authorities to repair the injector immediately, provide alternatives, and halt issuing CT prescriptions until services are fully restored.
