Department of Law, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organized an extension lecture by former District and Session Judge/Additional Advocate General, J&K Mr. Abdul Rashid Malik, who deliberated on the significance of law in society and the emerging future opportunities for law graduates.

Addressing the students, faculty members, and scholars, Justice Malik emphasized that law serves as the backbone of a civilized society, ensuring justice, equality, and protection of fundamental rights. He highlighted the vital role played by legal professionals in upholding constitutional values and maintaining the rule of law.

Speaking on the relevance of legal education in the contemporary world, Justice Malik encouraged students to approach the discipline with dedication, integrity, and a sense of responsibility. He stated that studying law not only opens avenues for professional growth but also develops analytical thinking, advocacy skills, and awareness of social issues. He elaborated on the diverse career opportunities available for law students in the present era including litigation, judiciary services, legal advisory roles, corporate law, academics, arbitration, legal journalism, public policy, human rights advocacy, and positions in governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Head and Dean  School of Legal Studies, Prof Farooq Ahmad Mir expressed gratitude to Justice Malik for sparing his time and delivering an enriching lecture that inspired students and broadened their understanding of legal careers.
