CUKashmir organizes multidisciplinary health camp for students, employees

Ganderbal, Apr 7: To commemorate the World Health Day, Health Centre and the Office of the Dean Students Welfare (DSW), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ganderbal, District Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Division, Kashmir Eye Hospital, Srinagar, Dental Department, District Hospital Ganderbal, organized a One-Day Multidisciplinary Health Camp at the University’s Tulmulla campus here on Tuesday.

Held under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science,” the camp was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath.

Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Dean DSW, Dr. Jehirul Islam, Youth Welfare Officer, Dr. Harpal Singh,  Medical Officers, Dr. Abid and Dr. Sheeba, officials from CMO Ganderbal, NCD Division, Kashmir Eye Hospital and senior functionaries of the varsity were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath highlighted the importance of evidence-based healthcare practices and emphasized the role of community-oriented health initiatives in strengthening public well-being. He commended the collaborative endeavour, observing that the convergence of academic institutions, district health authorities, and specialized healthcare providers offers a robust and replicable model for ensuring accessible and inclusive healthcare delivery to the students and other stakeholders. He asked the Health Centre and DSW to institutionalize such outreach initiatives, emphasizing that the University must extend its care beyond the campus by organizing such health and medical camps for the local populace.

Addressing the gathering, Registrar, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, lauded the organizers for successfully holding the camp. “Such initiatives significantly contribute to the holistic well-being of our students, employees, and other stakeholders,” he remarked. He said the multi-disciplinary camp was designed to offer quality healthcare services to the students. “The initiative focused on preventive care, early diagnosis, and awareness-driven interventions,” he added.

During the camp, managed by Medical Attendant Mr. Javed Ali and Nursing Officer, Mr. Javed Ahmad, teams of experienced doctors provided consultations on common ailments while also engaging participants in discussions on mental well-being.

The Dermatology, Dentistry, and Ophthalmology, Psychiatry units examined the students and gave on the spot medical advice and treatment charts to the participants.

As many as 308 students, scholars and staff, availed the services during the camp
