Department of Management Studies (DMS), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), through its BizTalk Club Tabsur, organized an extension lecture and interactive session on entrepreneurship titled “How to Start Your Enterprise.”
The session was attended by BBA (Hons) and MBA students and featured Mr. Sheikh Yameen, founder of Curve Electric—a public e-bike sharing company that is redefining sustainable urban mobility in India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yameen shared his entrepreneurial journey, stating that “making a business is not rocket science.” He narrated how his startup, founded just three years ago, “has already saved over 200 metric tons of carbon emissions.” “The company recently achieved a major milestone by securing its first pre-seed funding at a valuation of USD 1 million.” Drawing from his experiences delivering talks at BITS Pilani and several IITs, Mr. Yameen emphasized that academic brilliance alone does not determine entrepreneurial success. “Every venture begins with an idea,” he remarked, “but unless you execute it effectively, it means nothing. Entrepreneurship is a game of execution—easier said than done.” Encouraging students to translate ideas into action, he proposed establishing a Student Consulting Firm within the department to provide learners with hands-on experience in business problem-solving and client interaction.
Earlier, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Head, Deptt of Management Studies, emphasized the role of experiential learning and real-world exposure in shaping future entrepreneurs. He appreciated Mr. Yameen’s inspiring journey as a young innovator committed to sustainability and technological advancement.
In her speech, Dr. Mir Insha Farooq, Academic Coordinator, underscored the importance of entrepreneurial learning and highlighted Tabsur’s mandate in nurturing business acumen among students.
Dr. Waseem Jehangir proposed the vote of thanks.
