Director Agri assesses crop flood impact

Srinagar, July 22: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, today chaired a virtual review meeting with all Chief Agriculture Officers (CAOs) of the Kashmir Division to assess the prevailing flood situation and review the preparedness of the Agriculture Department in view of the inclement weather conditions.

During the meeting, the Director took a detailed district-wise assessment of the situation, including reports on waterlogging, crop damage, and the preparedness of field staff to respond promptly to any eventuality. He instructed all Chief Agriculture Officers to maintain close coordination with the district administrations and ensure continuous monitoring of vulnerable agricultural areas.
Sartaj Ahmad Shah directed all Chief Agriculture Officers to keep the entire field machinery on high alert and ensure that all officers and officials remain available in the field for timely response. He emphasized that immediate assessments should be carried out wherever agricultural land or standing crops are affected, and that all necessary measures should be taken to minimize losses to the farming community.
