Drone Recovered from Agricultural Field in J&K's Samba; Forensic Analysis Underway
Jammu, July 14: A suspected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was recovered from an agricultural field in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Tuesday, just hours after the Army detected and electronically neutralised an unidentified flying object near the International Border, prompting authorities to examine a possible connection between the two incidents.
According to officials, the drone was found around 5:50 a.m. in a field near Devak by a resident of Chak Salaria who had gone out for a morning run. After noticing the object, the resident immediately informed a nearby Army unit. Security personnel soon reached the location, secured the drone, and launched further procedures.
The recovery follows an incident the previous night when Army personnel deployed in the adjoining Nandpur area detected an unidentified aerial object reportedly approaching from the Arnia side at around 9:00 p.m. In response, troops activated anti-drone systems and used electronic jamming measures to disrupt the object's movement.
Officials believe the recovered drone could be the same aerial object that was intercepted during the operation and may have crash-landed after being disabled by the Army's counter-drone measures.
The drone has been sent for forensic examination to determine its origin, technical specifications, and whether it was involved in any cross-border activity or other unlawful operation.
Meanwhile, security agencies have stepped up surveillance across the border belt as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the recovery.
