Srinagar, July 4: An encounter has started between terrorists and security forces during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Shopian district in south Kashmir on Saturday.

Officials said a joint search operation was launched by security forces in the Saidpora area following intelligence inputs about suspicious movement.
“During the operation, a few gunshots were heard, though there was no immediate report of any casualties,” they said.
Senior security officials were monitoring the operation, which was continuing when the report was filed.
Official said additional troops have been rushed to the area to tighten the siege.
