Srinagar, July 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the release of ₹41.16 lakh for the long pending LPG distributorship allotted to 2016 pellet victim Insha Mushtaq, completing a rehabilitation initiative that had remained pending for several years.

The announcement was made by Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma, who said the financial sanction was cleared under the leadership of Omar Abdullah.

"Justice delayed, but not denied. Insha Mushtaq lost her eyesight to pellet injuries in 2016. Although her LPG distributorship was sanctioned in 2018, it remained incomplete. The government has now approved the release of the remaining ₹41.16 lakh to ensure the rehabilitation measure reaches its logical conclusion," the minister said.

Insha Mushtaq, a resident of Sedow village in Shopian district, lost her vision after sustaining pellet injuries during the 2016 unrest. Her case attracted nationwide attention and became one of the most widely discussed rehabilitation cases linked to the violence.

The LPG distributorship was allotted to her in 2018 as part of the government's rehabilitation package for pellet victims. However, the project remained stalled due to pending financial requirements. With the latest approval, the distributorship is expected to become operational soon.
