Srinagar, August 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar, has issued a heavy rain alert for several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, warning of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers during the next three hours.

According to the IMD nowcast, heavy rain or intense showers are likely at many places across Anantnag, Pahalgam, Tral, Pulwama, Kulgam, Banihal-Ramban and Shopian.

The alert was issued at 2:46 PM and remained valid until 5:46 PM on Friday.

The weather department has also warned of a possible risk of flash floods, landslides and mudslides in Pahalgam, Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag and Ramban districts.

The warning comes amid continuing unsettled weather across parts of Jammu and Kashmir, with intense short-duration rainfall potentially causing sudden water accumulation, flooding in vulnerable areas and disruptions to road connectivity.

Residents and travellers, particularly those passing through hilly and landslide-prone areas, have been advised to exercise caution during periods of intense rainfall.
