Kathua, Feb 26: The Open District Cricket Tournament organized by the District Administration Kathua, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Kathua, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan culminated today at Sports Stadium Kathua with Sub-Division Hiranagar emerging as the winner.

The tournament was conducted as part of the district administration’s sustained efforts to channelize the energy of youth towards constructive pursuits and to reinforce the message of a drug-free society through sports-based initiatives.
The matches were initially played at the sub-division level in Basohli, Billawar, Bani and Hiranagar. The winning teams of the quarterfinals advanced to the semi-finals and final rounds, which were held at Sports Stadium Kathua. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation and healthy competition among the teams.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma felicitated the winning team with the trophy. He appreciated the dedication and sportsmanship spirit of all teams, stating that sports serve as an effective platform in promoting healthy lifestyle and strengthening the fight against drug abuse. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities, while assuring continued support of district administration for organizing such events in future.
CPO Ranjeet Thakur, DSWO Varun Chaudhary, DIO Rajinder Digra and other officers and officials of district administration and Social Welfare Department were also present on the occasion.
