Srinagar, July 24 : The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir over the next one week, with heavy showers likely at a few places in the Jammu division.

An official of MeT said that the current spell of rain over South Kashmir and adjoining areas, the Chenab valley and parts of the Pir Panjal range is likely to continue intermittently till Friday afternoon, with gradual improvement thereafter.
From July 25 to 27, scattered to fairly widespread rain and thundershowers are expected, with brief intense heavy showers at a few places in the Jammu division, especially during early morning and morning hours.
Another fresh wet spell is most likely between July 28 and 31 across J&K, with the possibility of heavy showers in Jammu.
The MeT department has advised that there is a possibility of heavy rain and brief intense showers at a few districts of the Jammu division during the next 5 days.
It has also warned of possible flash floods, landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places.
"General public, tourists, travellers and transporters are advised to follow the weather advisory and confirm the status of roads and highways from the administration and traffic department before undertaking journeys," the department said.
