Budgam, July 24: Vehicular movement through Beerwah town in central Kashmir's Budgam district resumed on Saturday after authorities restored the diversion over Nallah Sukhnag, which had remained closed for four days after being damaged by flash floods.
The diversion was washed away on July 21 when heavy rainfall triggered flash floods in Nallah Sukhnag, bringing traffic to a halt and causing significant inconvenience to commuters, transporters, traders and local residents.
Officials of the Roads and Buildings Department said restoration work was carried out on a priority basis, with teams and machinery working continuously to reconstruct the damaged diversion.
After the repair work was completed, authorities carried out a successful trial run of vehicles before reopening the route for public use.
The reopening of the diversion has provided relief to residents and motorists who had been facing difficulties due to the prolonged disruption. Officials have urged drivers to remain cautious while crossing the restored stretch and to follow traffic advisories, especially during periods of inclement weather.
