Srinagar, Oct 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved free travel for persons with disabilities on Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) buses and electric buses operated by Jammu Smart City Limited and Srinagar Smart City Limited.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the decision was announced last month and fulfils a commitment made in the Budget earlier this year.

The concession will cover transport services operated by JKRTC and the two Smart City companies, extending free travel benefits across the designated public transport networks in Jammu and Kashmir.

The initiative aims to ease transportation expenses for persons with disabilities and improve their access to public transport. The implementation process, including eligibility requirements and the procedure for availing the facility, will determine how beneficiaries access the concession across the covered services.
