October 28, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, October 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified inspections of commercial establishments dealing in regulated materials across multiple districts to prevent unauthorised sales and the possible misuse or diversion of sensitive supplies.

The inspection drive has covered fertilizer, pesticide, chemical, seed and hardware shops, along with other businesses requiring regulatory oversight. Police teams have also checked SIM-card vendors and certain online service providers as part of the preventive measures.

In Baramulla district, police inspected hardware shops, pesticide outlets and car dealerships in Pattan to verify licences, permits and mandatory records. Officials said the establishments checked during the exercise were found complying with the applicable regulations.

In Reasi, police inspected 62 shops dealing in fertilizers, chemicals and other regulated materials. Stock registers and sale records were examined, while shopkeepers were instructed to maintain proper documentation and install CCTV cameras. Inspections were also carried out at medical stores, SIM-card outlets and online service centres.

Bandipora Police checked SIM-card vendors in Ajas and inspected fertilizer outlets within the jurisdiction of Police Station Aragam and Police Post Sumlar. Business operators were directed to keep their records accurate and strengthen surveillance arrangements.

In Ramban district, police inspected establishments dealing in fertilizers, seeds and explosive materials to verify stock details, licences and other required documents. The exercise was aimed at preventing unauthorised sales and the diversion of regulated items.

Police said such inspections are intended to strengthen monitoring of sensitive commercial supplies, ensure compliance with prescribed regulations and detect potential violations before materials can be misused for unlawful activities.
