Imphal, Sep 8: Intelligence-based joint operations conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police, Assam Police, CAPFs and other Central Security Forces, resulted in significant counter-insurgency gains across Manipur and Assam between August 29 and September 6, 2026.
The operations were carried out across Churachandpur, Chandel, Imphal East, Jiribam, Imphal West and Thoubal districts of Manipur, besides Tinsukia district of Assam, based on specific intelligence inputs.
According to the security forces, the coordinated operations led to the neutralisation of two insurgent cadres and apprehension of nine active cadres and Over Ground Workers (OGWs). The operations also resulted in the detection and neutralisation of four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with a combined weight of approximately 38 kg.
Security forces further recovered 10 weapons, along with ammunition and other war-like stores, during the operations.
The coordinated action involving multiple security agencies reflects an intelligence-driven approach aimed at disrupting insurgent networks, preventing attacks and maintaining security across vulnerable areas of the two northeastern states.
The operations were conducted under the aegis of Spear Corps, with close coordination among the Army, Assam Rifles, state police forces and Central security agencies. The multi-agency approach is intended to strengthen intelligence sharing and enable timely action against armed cadres and their support networks.
The recovery of weapons, ammunition and explosive material is expected to further disrupt the operational capabilities of insurgent groups operating in the region. The security forces continue to maintain vigilance across the affected districts and undertake coordinated operations based on actionable intelligence.
