Srinagar, Nov 15: The family of Arshid Ahmad Shah, a photographer who died in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station on Friday night, has appealed for a thorough investigation and government assistance, highlighting that he was the sole earning member of the household.

A family member said Arshid had been supporting the family following the untimely death of his elder brother in an accident. “Arshid was the sole breadwinner. We received the news of his death today, and the entire family is devastated,” he said.

Arshid leaves behind two young children, while his father, a heart patient, relies heavily on him. “We request the government to investigate the incident and ensure proper accountability. Our family is completely shattered and needs urgent support during this critical time,” the relative added.

The tragic explosion, which occurred while handling seized explosive material linked to an ongoing investigation, claimed nine lives and injured several others. The family said Arshid’s death has pushed them into uncertainty, and they have appealed for immediate assistance from authorities to help them cope with the loss.
