Srinagar, August 15: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar to mark the 80th Independence Day.
In his Independence Day message, Sinha paid tribute to the founding fathers of the nation and the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for India's freedom.
He also expressed condolences for civilians who lost their lives in natural calamities this year.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his greetings to personnel of the Armed Forces, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces and other security agencies.
Sinha expressed gratitude to the soldiers and police personnel who have sacrificed their lives in defence of the country's unity and in the fight against terrorism.
He called upon people to honour the legacy of the martyrs by working towards a peaceful, prosperous and progressive Jammu and Kashmir and a stronger India.
