Bandipora, Feb 26: A massive fire broke out early Thursday in Bandipora’s main market, gutting around 15 shops in a three-storey commercial complex. Fire and Emergency Services responded promptly, deploying four fire tenders and working alongside local police and volunteers to contain the blaze. Thick smoke engulfed the area, and the fire was brought under control after several hours.Officials are assessing the total loss and cause of the fire. Traders estimated losses could run into crores and called for urgent financial assistance. MLA Nizamuddin Bhat visited the site, described the incident as deeply unfortunate, and urged the administration to expedite compensation, insurance claims, and relief support for affected shopkeepers.
