
Jammu Receives 66 mm Rainfall In 24 Hours
Srinagar, Aug 23: Jammu received 66 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, followed by Udhampur with 56 mm, according to the Meteorological Department.
Poonch recorded 45 mm, Kokernag 42 mm and Qazigund 32.6 mm of rainfall during the same period, according to data shared by the MeT Centre Srinagar.
For August 23, the weather department has forecast generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at many places. Brief intense showers are likely at one or two places in Jammu division until late afternoon, followed by improvement.
From August 24 to 28, generally hot and humid weather is expected, with brief spells of rain or thundershowers at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours.
From August 29 to 31, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers at scattered to many places. Brief intense showers are likely during the early morning and afternoon hours, mainly in Jammu division.
The MeT has advised that brief intense showers at isolated locations could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides.
Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural operations while taking local weather conditions into account.
