Srinagar, Jan 21: Cabinet Minister and senior National Conference leader Sakina Itoo on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of pursuing divisive politics, asserting that the National Conference remains committed to the unity of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters, Itoo said the BJP has historically thrived on societal divisions, whereas the National Conference champions cohesion and inclusive politics. She emphasised that the party’s objective is to unite Jammu and Kashmir and protect the rights and aspirations of its people.

The minister reiterated the party’s demand for the restoration of Ladakh as part of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the reinstatement of job and land rights and the region’s special status.

Itoo said the National Conference’s political approach is focused on safeguarding the identity, dignity, and constitutional rights of the people, contrasting it with what she described as the BJP’s divisive agenda. She affirmed that the party will continue to advocate for unity and restoration of rights, which remain central to its political vision.
