Srinagar/Katra, June 20: Jammu Division of Indian Railways has once again highlighted its commitment to passenger convenience and safety by successfully returning lost valuables in two separate incidents involving Vande Bharat Express trains.
In the first case, PhD scholar Ashutosh Tiwari from Aligarh Muslim University misplaced his mobile phone during a visit to Shalimar Garden, Srinagar. After reaching Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra via Vande Bharat Express and reporting the matter, coordinated efforts between railway stations at Srinagar and Katra led to the recovery of the device. The phone was traced, collected, and safely returned to the passenger, who expressed gratitude to railway staff.
In a second incident, railway security personnel found an unclaimed black bag aboard Vande Bharat Express Train No. 26402. Following security verification and announcements at Katra station, the rightful owner approached the station office. The bag, containing cash, travel documents and essential items, was duly returned after verification.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the railway’s priority remains passenger trust and satisfaction, adding that such efforts reflect the Railways’ role beyond transportation as a system that safeguards passenger belongings and confidence.
The Jammu Division also urged passengers to remain vigilant about their belongings during travel and to immediately contact railway helplines or station authorities in case of loss.
