Shopian, Oct 31: A nine-year-old boy died while his father sustained critical injuries after a mass of soil debris fell on them at Naghad Wachi in the Zainapora area of Shopian district.
The deceased was identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Khari, who was residing in the area along with his father, Muhammad Faiz Khari, aged around 40. The duo belongs to a nomadic family originally from Rajouri district.
Soon after the incident, both injured persons were taken to CHC Zainapora for medical assistance. Considering their condition, doctors referred them to Government Medical College Anantnag for further treatment.
However, the minor later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His father continues to remain in critical condition.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
