The prestigious All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024, which commenced at Sainik School Nagrota on August 6, 2024, has concluded today amidst much fanfare and celebration. The grand Closing Ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of the Mr RR Swain, Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, who presided over the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony took place at the Maj Somnath Sharma PVC Stadium, where the Chief Guest officially declared the Meet closed.
The event, which witnessed intense competition among eight Sainik Schools from Group-A, included participants from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. The concluding ceremony was marked by an impressive March Past, showcasing the discipline and spirit of the young cadets, who represented their respective schools with pride.
During the four-day event, a wide array of sports and cultural competitions were held, culminating in the presentation of medals and trophies to the victorious teams and individual players by the Chief Guest. Sainik School Nagrota made its mark by lifting the coveted Volleyball trophy for the second consecutive year. Meanwhile, Sainik School Kunjpura and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira emerged victorious in the Basketball and Hockey Championships, respectively.
The overall championship was fiercely contested, with Sainik School Kunjpura emerging as the Overall Champions, thanks to their superlative performances across various sports disciplines. They secured a comfortable lead in the points tally, finishing with an impressive 108 points while the hosts Sainik School Nagrota stood Runner-up in this Sports Meet.
Among the PPP Model Sainik Schools, RIRS, Fatehabad, demonstrated remarkable prowess in the athletic events, delivering a spirited competition in all three athletics categories and lifted the Athletics Trophy for Sub Junior Boys. The following cadets were recognized for their outstanding achievements:
Best Athlete in Boys Sub-Juniors: Cadet Avinash Kuma, RLGS, Solan
Best Athlete in Girls Sub-Juniors: Cadet Vritika, Sainik School Kunjpura
Best Athlete in Junior Girls: Cadet tArushi, Sainik School Kapurthala
The Cultural Competition added a vibrant touch to the event, with Sainik School Sujanpur Tira being declared the winners, showcasing the diverse talents of the cadets beyond the sports field. The Closing Ceremony concluded with the Chief Guest congratulating all participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and the spirit of camaraderie they exhibited throughout the Meet. He emphasized the importance of such events in fostering unity, discipline, and a competitive spirit among the future leaders of the nation.
