
Srinagar, July 19: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in Rajouri district after heavy overnight rainfall triggered flash floods and caused widespread damage across several areas.
During separate telephonic conversations with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Shah assessed the prevailing situation, ongoing rescue and relief operations, and the measures being taken to protect affected residents.
The Home Minister assured both the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister that the Central Government stands firmly with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will provide all possible assistance to support relief, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts.
He also directed that every necessary resource and support be extended to the Union Territory administration to effectively manage the crisis and reduce the impact of the natural disaster.
The heavy rainfall overnight led to flash floods, landslides, and significant damage to public infrastructure and private property in parts of Rajouri district, prompting rescue teams and the civil administration to intensify relief operations.
Authorities have urged residents to remain alert, follow official advisories, and avoid visiting vulnerable areas until weather conditions improve.
