Srinagar, Sep 22: National Conference MLA Salman Ali Sagar on Tuesday alleged that BJP legislators were disrupting proceedings in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to avoid responding to questions over the transfer and posting of officers from Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly, Sagar questioned the basis for recommending the transfer of local officers while officials from Jammu and Kashmir were being posted to different states and Union Territories, including Sikkim, Rajasthan, Delhi and Goa.

Sagar alleged that the BJP was unable to provide answers on the issue and was therefore creating disruptions during the Assembly proceedings.

“BJP does not want to answer why local officers from Jammu and Kashmir are recommended for transfer, while officers from here are being sent to states like Sikkim, Rajasthan and Goa. They have no answers, so they are creating chaos,” he said.

The remarks came amid continued disruptions in the Assembly, with BJP legislators raising allegations of misgovernance against the government.

The issue of transfers and administrative postings has added to the political differences between the ruling National Conference and the BJP during the ongoing Assembly session.

Sagar represents the Hazratbal constituency and is a senior National Conference leader.
