Bandipora, Aug 14: A five-day search operation in Bandipora ended with the recovery of the body of a missing man from Nalla Madhumati at Nathpora, officials said on Friday.

The body was recovered from the water channel in the Nathpora area, with the recovery site also reported in the Zaalwan area of Bandipora.

The deceased was identified as 31-year-old Showkat Ahmad Gujjar, son of Mohammad Gulab Gujjar, a resident of Yali Bonakoot.

The search operation continued for five days after Gujjar went missing. Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, police and local volunteers conducted searches in and around the water channel.

Following the recovery, the body was taken into the custody of the concerned authorities for completion of legal and medico-legal formalities.

Police have registered a case to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and determine the cause of death. Further investigation is underway.
