A five-day workshop on Python for Artificial Intelligence (AI), organized by the Department of Information Technology (IT), concluded successfully on Sunday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

The event, which aimed to enhance the participants’ programming skills and introduce them to AI-driven problem-solving, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, research scholars, and faculty members.

The valedictory session was graced by Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, Dean (Research & Consultancy) and I/C Director, who was the Chief Guest of the function.

In her address, Prof. Roohie Naaz lauded the efforts of the Department of Information Technology for organizing the workshop and commended the participants for their keen involvement throughout the sessions.

“Workshops like these are not just academic exercises but opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world technological applications,” she said.

Prof. Naaz said that Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming industries, and mastering tools like Python will empower students to contribute meaningfully to innovation and research.

He distributed certificates among 95 participants and felicitated the resource persons and organizing committee members for their contributions in making the event a success.

In his message, Registrar, NIT Srinagar, Prof. Atikur Rehman, congratulated the Department for conducting a technically rich and relevant workshop.

He emphasized that AI and programming literacy are essential skills in today’s academic and industrial landscape.

“NIT Srinagar has always prioritized skill-based learning, and this workshop is another step in that direction,” Prof. Rehman said.

He said Python has become the backbone of AI and data science, and such initiatives prepare our students to be future-ready. I commend the department for fostering a culture of continuous learning, Prof. Rehman added.

Dr. Shabir Ahmad Sofi, Head of the Department (HoD), Information Technology, highlighted the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence across various sectors.

He noted that the workshop provided participants with a strong foundation in AI tools and programming logic.

“AI is reshaping the way we work, think, and innovate. Our goal is to ensure that students not only understand the theoretical aspects but also gain practical exposure through such workshops.

Prof. Sofi said that the department will continue to organize similar training programs and research-oriented events in the near future.

The workshop included interactive sessions, live coding demonstrations, and discussions on Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.

Participants engaged in hands-on exercises that covered AI algorithms, data visualization, and real-world problem-solving using Python.

Workshop Coordinator Dr. Saniya Zahoor expressed gratitude to the Director, Registrar, and Institute Administration for their constant support.

“The enthusiastic participation of students and the dedication of the organizing team made this workshop a grand success. Such initiatives are instrumental in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations,” she added.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a group photograph session, marking the end of a productive and inspiring week of learning at NIT Srinagar.
