Five Injured Including Two Children in Fire incident at IIT Bombay Hostel,

Mumbai, October 9: Five people, including two children, were injured after a gas leak from a cylinder pipe triggered a fire at Hostel No. 6 on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay campus in Powai, Mumbai, on Thursday night.

The incident was reported at around 10:24 pm, following which emergency personnel and civic authorities were mobilised to the spot.

According to officials, the fire broke out after gas leaked from a cylinder pipe at the hostel premises. The injured included two minors, aged 12 and nine, and three adults aged 23, 34 and 37.

All five injured persons were reported to be in stable condition following the incident.

Four of them were shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai for further treatment, while the fifth injured person was admitted to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.

Police personnel and municipal ward staff responded to the incident to assist with the emergency.

Further details regarding the circumstances that led to the gas leak and the subsequent fire are awaited.
