Riyadh, Oct 18: The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has advised Indian nationals residing in Saudi Arabia to follow emergency safety instructions issued by local authorities amid heightened security concerns in the region.
In an advisory, the embassy urged Indian citizens to remain calm and respond promptly to alerts issued through Saudi Arabia’s National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies.
According to the guidelines, people receiving emergency alerts should immediately seek shelter inside a building, preferably in an interior room away from windows, and remain there until authorities declare the situation safe.
Residents have been advised to keep away from windows, glass doors, balconies, rooftops and open areas during emergencies. Those outdoors when an alert is issued should enter the nearest building or take cover behind a solid barrier.
The advisory also urges people to avoid crowded areas and potentially dangerous locations. Indian nationals have been asked not to photograph security incidents or circulate related visuals.
Motorists receiving an emergency alert while driving should pull over safely, keeping away from bridges and high-rise structures.
For emergencies, Saudi Arabia's designated helpline is 911 in the Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and Eastern Province regions. Residents in other parts of the country can contact emergency services through 998.
The advisory comes amid security concerns following reported drone and missile attacks in the region. Indian authorities have reiterated the importance of remaining vigilant and following official instructions to minimise risks.
The embassy has urged Indian nationals to monitor official announcements and comply with directions issued by Saudi authorities to ensure their safety.
