
Anantnag, July 12: A 24 year old labourer engaged in assisting pilgrims during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra lost his life on Sunday after being struck by a falling stone near Chandanwari in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
The deceased has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Shah, a resident of Cheerward, Mattan. He was on duty helping pilgrims along the route when a shooting stone hit him, causing critical injuries.
He was immediately evacuated for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of doctors.
His body has been shifted to Pahalgam Hospital for medico legal formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings.
