Srinagar, Jan 16: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti accused the United States of routinely attacking countries in the name of restoring democracy while exploiting their natural resources.Addressing reporters, Mehbooba Mufti said it has become a pattern for America to intervene militarily in different parts of the world under the pretext of democratic change, only to exploit the resources of those countries.

She said she was happy to see people protesting against America, adding that such protests should have taken place across India as well. Mehbooba Mufti remarked that Iran has historically been a good friend of India, but claimed that the situation has changed in recent years due to policies pursued by the BJP.

“If the people of Iran do not understand their situation, their condition could become worse than Syria,” she said, warning against what she described as external interference aimed at destabilising countries.

The PDP chief further alleged that America and Israel are anti-Muslim countries, asserting that the primary objective of the United States is to exploit resources under the guise of regime change.

Expressing satisfaction over recent demonstrations, Mehbooba Mufti said she was glad that people of Kashmir were coming forward to support Iran and raise their voice against what she termed global injustice.

Her remarks come amid heightened political reactions in the region over developments in West Asia and protests expressing solidarity with Iran.
