New Delhi, November 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended Diwali greetings to people across the country, wishing them happiness, peace and prosperity on the occasion of the festival of lights.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister conveyed his wishes, describing citizens as members of his extended family and wishing everyone a happy Diwali.

A day earlier, Modi had shared a video message in which he highlighted the significance of the festival and said that Diwali symbolises the country's determination to overcome darkness.

Wishing people a prosperous future, he expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace and prosperity to every household.

The Prime Minister also reaffirmed his annual tradition of celebrating Diwali with soldiers serving the country, saying he would continue the practice this year as well.

Modi said he celebrates the festival with great enthusiasm and considers spending the occasion with the country's soldiers an important annual tradition.

However, he did not disclose the location of his planned Diwali visit to the military personnel.

The Prime Minister's announcement continues a tradition of marking the festival with armed forces personnel, particularly those deployed away from their families while performing duties in challenging conditions.
