October 06, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Anantnag, Oct 6: Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has initiated disciplinary action against students allegedly involved in a ragging incident reported at the institution’s Boys Hostel.

According to an official order, the incident occurred during the intervening night of September 28 and 29, 2026, following which a report was received by the office of the Principal, GMC Anantnag.

The Anti-Ragging Committee of GMC Anantnag took up the matter and conducted a detailed and impartial inquiry, providing all concerned parties an opportunity to present their statements.

Following the inquiry, the committee submitted its findings to the Principal, establishing the involvement of students from the MBBS Batch 2025.

Based on the committee’s recommendations, the Principal has ordered the suspension of the concerned students from the Boys Hostel and their immediate eviction from hostel accommodation until further orders, citing the need to maintain a safe and secure environment for hostel residents.

The students have also been suspended from all academic activities, including theory and practical classes, clinical postings and examinations, with immediate effect and until further orders.

The parents or guardians of the concerned students have been directed to accompany them and appear before the Anti-Ragging Committee on October 12, 2026, at 2:30 PM for further proceedings.

The order further warned that failure to comply with the directions would invite additional disciplinary action under the National Medical Commission’s Anti-Ragging Regulations and applicable institutional statutes.
