Srinagar, Sep 01: A scooty rider was killed after his two wheeler collided with a tipper near Government Degree College Bemina in Srinagar on Tuesday evening.

Officials said the rider was travelling on a TVS Ntorq bearing registration number JK01AW-9883 when the accident occurred. The rider sustained severe injuries and died at the spot.

Police from Police Station Batamaloo reached the site after being informed about the incident and took cognizance of the matter. The body was subsequently taken into custody for further proceedings.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The tipper driver reportedly fled the spot following the accident.

Police have initiated further investigation into the incident and efforts are underway to trace the tipper and its driver.
