Srinagar, Feb 5: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was reopened for traffic on Thursday with restrictions, allowing light motor vehicles to travel in both directions while regulating movement for heavy vehicles. Heavy vehicles were permitted to move only from Srinagar to Jammu, with no movement allowed from Jammu to Srinagar.

Authorities imposed the restrictions to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion on vulnerable stretches, considering current road and weather conditions. Drivers were advised to maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking, with violations attracting strict legal action.

Traffic police have been deployed at key points to monitor movement and ensure compliance. Commuters and transporters were urged to follow official advisories and exercise caution, particularly while navigating mountainous and sensitive sections of the highway.
