Srinagar, Jan 30 : SSP Traffic Srinagar City Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Friday advised motorists to verify traffic challans only through the official traffic police website and avoid clicking on suspicious links circulated by fraudsters through SMS and WhatsApp.
SSP said several cases have come to notice where people were duped after opening fake links claiming to be traffic challans. He said fraudsters are using different tactics to mislead the public and extract personal and financial information.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat urged people to remain cautious and not trust unsolicited messages or links related to challans. He said traffic challans should always be checked and paid only through officially notified platforms.
The SSP said awareness among the public is the key to preventing such frauds and appealed to citizens to report any suspicious messages or links to the concerned authorities.
He reiterated that traffic police do not send payment links through random messages and advised people to cross check information through official channels only.
