Srinagar, Oct 30: The State Press Forum Jammu and Kashmir on Friday called for a revision of government advertisement rates and highlighted various issues affecting newspaper organisations and journalists during a meeting with Director Information Mamta Yadav, IAS.

The delegation met Yadav to discuss the economic difficulties confronting print media institutions, particularly in view of rising inflation, printing expenses and other operational costs. The forum also congratulated Yadav on taking charge as Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations.

During the interaction, the delegation emphasised the importance of newspapers in delivering reliable information to the public and maintaining effective communication between the government and citizens. It also called for greater attention to the financial stability of media organisations, professional challenges faced by journalists and measures to strengthen their welfare.

Yadav listened to the concerns raised by the delegation and assured that the issues would be taken up for examination on priority. She said the department remained committed to addressing journalists' welfare concerns and challenges faced by media institutions.

She further stressed the importance of cooperation between the department and media organisations, inviting constructive suggestions and regular engagement to address issues concerning the media
