Jammu, Oct 11: A woman went missing after being swept away by a flash flood in the Raipur Domana area of Jammu district on Sunday morning. Her husband managed to survive the incident, while their car was washed away by the strong current.

According to reports, the couple came outside their house after water levels suddenly rose behind their residence following heavy overnight rainfall.

The husband reportedly said that a sudden surge of water struck the area, causing their car, bearing registration number JK11 1546, to shake. As he attempted to move the vehicle to a safer location, the powerful current submerged it before he could get inside.

His wife followed him, reportedly trying to call him back to safety, but was caught in the rushing water. While the man managed to reach the side of the stream, his wife was swept downstream and remains missing.

Locals said continuous rainfall triggered a sudden rise in water levels in a nearby nallah, creating a flash flood-like situation in the area.

Following the incident, residents began searching the muddy stream with the help of ropes. Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams also reached the spot and launched a search and rescue operation to trace the missing woman.
