The conclave, titled SANGAM 2.0 (W), is being organised under the patronage of the NIT Srinagar Alumni Association in collaboration with various organisations, institutions, and entrepreneurs.

It aims to celebrate and recognise the achievements of women associated with the institute, both directly and indirectly.

The brochure launch ceremony was organised by the Office of the Dean, Alumni and International Affairs (A&IA) in collaboration with the NIT Srinagar Alumni Association.

The event was co-chaired by President AANITS, Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir, and Vice President AANITS and former Director of Disaster Management, J&K, Er Aamir Ali Mir.

Prof M A Shah, Dean Alumni and International Affairs, and Dr H S Pali, Associate Dean Alumni and International Affairs hosted the session.

Participants also shared suggestions and feedback from faculty members, research scholars, and students.

On the occasion, Prof Mohammad Shafi Mir, President AANITS, termed the initiative a landmark step for the institute.

“Our alumni, especially women alumnae, have excelled across the globe. This conclave is an opportunity to reconnect them with their alma mater and allow their experiences to guide and mentor the next generation,” he said, adding that such engagements reinforce the institute’s academic and social ecosystem.

Er Aamir Ali said this conclave would play a crucial role in strengthening alumni-institute relations while empowering women in science and leadership.

“Women have always been the backbone of progress, and platforms like WSC–2026 will not only celebrate their achievements but also inspire young minds to dream big and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

Dean, Alumni and International Affairs, Prof M A Shah, highlighted the broader vision behind the conclave.

“WSC–2026 is not just an event; it is a movement to promote mentorship, inclusion, and academic excellence. By bringing together alumni, student,s and faculty on one platform, we aim to create meaningful dialogues that translate into long-term impact,” he added.

WSC–2026 is an extension of SANGAM (Students Alumni Networking for Growth, Aspiration and Mentorship) and is envisioned as a platform for inspiration, dialogue, networking, and mentorship.

While the conclave is primarily designed for female alumnae, it will also be open to all REC/NIT alumni and participants who wish to celebrate the role of women in science, education, and society.

The conclave will focus on honouring women alumnae who have excelled in diverse fields and carried forward the institute’s legacy, while inspiring current students through stories of leadership, resilience, and innovation.

Organisers said the initiative would particularly benefit nearly 1,000 female students and staff members by providing mentorship, guidance, and academic support.

With a global alumni base of over 40,000 graduates, the institute has invited alumni, educationists, and well-wishers to participate in the conclave and engage in one-on-one interactions with students and staff. Alumni are also encouraged to attend the event along with their families.

As part of the academic component, participants may submit one-page abstracts, which will be published in a Scopus-indexed abstract book under the conclave’s academic programme.

The event will also include the observance of National Science Day in commemoration of Nobel laureate C V Raman.

For smooth coordination, branch-wise coordinators have been appointed, with overall coordination being led by Prof Kowsar Majid, Head of Chemistry.
