Preparations reviewed for 1st International Film Festival J&K at Gulmarg

Chief Executive Officer, Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Tariq Hussain today chaired meeting at the Convention Centre, Gulmarg to review the arrangements for the 1st International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir, 2026.

The meeting was attended by the District Information Officer (DIO) Baramulla, Iftakhar Naseem, Assistant Director Tourism Gulmarg, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Tangmarg, Station House Officer Gulmarg, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Executive Officer Municipal Committee Tangmarg/Gulmarg, Manager J&K Cable Car Corporation, representatives of Hoteliers Association Gulmarg, Traders Association Gulmarg and ATV Operators Association Gulmarg, besides other concerned representatives.

The meeting held detailed deliberations on the overall preparations in Gulmarg and ensuring that Gulmarg presents itself as a world-class destination before filmmakers, creative professionals and visitors from India and abroad.

A roadmap for a one-day itinerary for visiting delegates and guests was comprehensively discussed, with emphasis on showcasing Gulmarg’s scenic beauty, adventure activities, hospitality, local culture and other tourism attractions. The participants deliberated on how the itinerary could provide visitors with a comprehensive experience of the destination.

A major focus of the meeting was on branding and beautification of the entire stretch from Narbal to Gulmarg, including prominent touch points, important venues and locations within the Gulmarg bowl. The participants were directed to ensure that the route and key public spaces appropriately reflect the spirit of the festival while simultaneously showcasing the natural beauty, tourism infrastructure and cultural richness of Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting also reviewed arrangements related to sanitation, cleanliness, healthcare and emergency health facilities, with emphasis on maintaining high standards throughout the visit of dignitaries. The concerned agencies were asked to ensure adequate manpower, facilities and prompt response mechanisms at important locations.

The CEO GDA called for close coordination between the administration, police, tourism stakeholders, health authorities, municipal bodies, hotel industry, cable car operators and other service providers so that all arrangements are in place well before the event.
