Take Risks
Get out of your comfort zone and try to do those tasks which you know are not meant for you and you know that you would end up doing it in an erroneous way. You should take extra responsibilities at task even if you know that you would not be able to do them. Do not come up with reasons to not to do things, rather look for reasons to act. Do not invent excuses, invent reasons. Taking risks does not mean that you will do such sort of tasks which can physically or mentally harm you in one way or other, rather you must take productive risks. You should learn to lose to better appreciate a victory. Taking risks and doing those tasks which you are not perfect in will lead you to learn many new things which you were not familiar with and also gain a lot of experience.
Have People of High Character
Character traits of people surrounding you affect you a lot in many ways and you unknowingly adapt to those traits. People with good character traits affect you in a positive way and those with negative ones affect you in negative ways. You should carefully choose people whom you want in your surroundings. Identify what suits you the best and what makes the best version of you. In simple words what your ambition is, and find people like that. Then, carefully observe what made them successful and try to implant those characteristics and traits in yourself.
Get Out of your Comfort Zone
Put yourself in tough and difficult situations, and manage those situations to come up with a solution. Being in your comfort zone will never allow you to learn how to manage uncomfortable situations. Character traits like creativity and leadership often sprout in a person when he comes out of his comfort zone.
Let Yourself Vent in Private
No matter how strong your character is, you are going to get angry, frustrated, and upset. That is a part of life. Burying those emotions into the depth of your person would not help you build your character. Those emotions can any time wake up again when they will receive any intense stimulus. So what is the aid for this? It becomes important for you vent in private, so that your public character is safe. There are many ways in which you can do this, like you can go to a gym where you can use all of your anger and frustration in a productive manner. Or you can take a paper and a pen and write down all your negative thoughts on it and then burn it up. Other than this you can find any other physical or healthy way to get the frustration out of your system and let it go.
Lose Graciously
A person who does not know how to lose, does not know how to win. You should always learn from your defeat and never be upset about what you lost because if you lose you learn and try to gain perfection and if you keep winning you will never be able to learn new things. Try to compete on little things and develop that quality of facing defeat graciously because it will lay an essential foundation for the most important stuff i.e life changing moments. Learn to become a good winner too. Remember how it feels when you lose and never criticize others when they lose. You should celebrate in private, but celebrate.
Stop Looking to Others for Approval
Talking from a psychological perspective, people have been divided into two types, those with an inner locus and those having an outer locus. People with inner locus do not care about what others have to say, they are satisfied with things that please them and worry less about their surroundings .people with outer locus are basically pleasers, who always sacrifice their needs to satisfy the people around. They are worried about what people have to say. If you want to take control of your life and your developing character, then do those things which you think are good for you, not what you boss, wife, friends, family thinks.
Learn to Embrace your Defining Moments
Never forget the moments when your character was put to challenge and when you risked your identity to achieve something. A person with good character will always remember his defining moments and use them as motivation and a positive trigger for himself. These defining moments always tell you that there is something best in you, but the only thing is that you need to find what it is.
Stay Busy and Avoid Idleness
People with high character talk less and do more. They stay busy with their tasks and never sit idle. They avoid indulgent behaviour. Like sleeping all day around, loafing around, partying and other such activities. So should you. If you want to become a person of nice character you need not to waste your time. Use it in the best possible way. Learn to master your hobbies by doing them on regular basis. Never become a person of shiftlessness rather keep yourself engaged.
