Minister for Social Welfare, Education and Health, Sakeena Itoo today visited the Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education, Bijbehara, and took a comprehensive overview of the facilities, educational programmes and rehabilitation services being provided to children and persons with disabilities.
During the visit, the Minister inspected various facilities of the institute, including classrooms, intervention classes, physiotherapy services and the physical rehabilitation department. She interacted with the staff and took keen interest in the educational, therapeutic and rehabilitation activities being undertaken for children with disabilities.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Bijbehara, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri; Mission Director, Poshan; Chief Education Officer; Chief Medical Officer; Tehsil Social Welfare Officers; CDPO Bijbehara and other concerned district officers.
During the visit, the Minister expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the institution towards the education, rehabilitation, care and empowerment of children and persons with disabilities.
She assured the management of the institute that the Government would extend all possible support and cooperation through the concerned departments. She also directed the district officers accompanying her to maintain close coordination with the Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline and extend necessary institutional support to strengthen services for persons with disabilities.
The Minister appreciated the entire team of Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline for its sustained efforts towards disability inclusion, rehabilitation, education and social empowerment.
In his welcome address, Founder and Chairman, Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline and Zaiba Aapa Institute of Inclusive Education, Javed Ahmad Tak, presented a welcome address and briefed the Minister about the activities and initiatives of the institution. He also highlighted various policy issues concerning the rights, welfare, empowerment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.
