Srinagar, July 23: A security high alert has been sounded in Kashmir following the killing of a policeman in a terror attack in Anantnag’s Lal Chowk area on Wednesday.

Sources said security across Kashmir has been put on a high alert with forces intensifying surveillance, strengthening checkpoints and launching search operations.
The police and paramilitary personnel have increased patrolling and surveillance.
The security personnel have set up temporary check points at many places in Valley, where the vehicles and commuters are thoroughly frisked.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, Srinagar CRPF Sector also said security across Kashmir has been placed on high alert following the terrorist attack in Anantnag.
“Security forces have intensified surveillance, strengthened checkpoints and launched search operations to maintain law and order. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces,” it said.
The security has been beefed up after police Head constable Ashiq Hussain was killed in a terror attack in Anantnag’s Lal Chowk area yesterday afternoon.
It was the first terror attack in the Valley after last year’s Pahalgam terror attack in which 25 tourists and a local ponywala were killed.
