Kohima, July 26: Assam Rifles and Indian Army formations under Spear Corps commemorated the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura, paying tribute to the courage and supreme sacrifice of the heroes of Operation Vijay.

The commemorations featured wreath-laying ceremonies, veteran interactions, documentary screenings, patriotic competitions, pipe band performances, youth engagement programmes and blood donation drives, highlighting the spirit of sacrifice and national unity.
A major highlight was the Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorative Bike Rally from Kohima to Nerhema, flagged off by Nagaland Governor Shri Nand Kishore Yadav in the presence of Maj Gen H S Mavi, IGAR (North). The event also included the felicitation of the parents of Capt Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, MVC (Posthumous), a Kargil War hero.
As part of community outreach initiatives, Assam Rifles and Army units organised medical camps benefiting hundreds of civilians, including over 200 beneficiaries in Haflong, Assam, and 392 people in Churachandpur, Manipur.
Tiranga rallies, sports events and interactive sessions held across the region encouraged youth participation and strengthened the bond between the armed forces and local communities.
The wide-ranging events served as a tribute to Kargil martyrs while inspiring younger generations with the values of courage, patriotism and selfless service.
