
As part of a nationwide mass mobilization campaign leading up to World Environment Day 2025, the ‘End Plastic Pollution’ initiative has been launched in Srinagar district to promote eco-friendly alternatives to Single-Use Plastics (SUP).
The awareness drive, conducted under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, aims to highlight the harmful impact of plastic waste on the environment and human health. It also encourages students and the wider community to adopt sustainable, plastic-free lifestyles.
In Harwan area, the Block Shalimar team of the Social Forestry Range Srinagar spearheaded a series of activities, including a comprehensive cleanliness drive around Dachigam Nallah. Additionally, Green Marches, Cleanliness Drives, and Pledge Ceremonies were organized at Government Boys High School Harwan and Abhay Mission High School Dachigam under the global theme: Ending Plastic Pollution.
The events saw active and enthusiastic participation from students, school staff, and Social Forestry officials. The collective efforts underscored a strong commitment to environmental conservation and promoting a clean, green future.
Participants also took a pledge to reduce plastic use and protect the environment, uniting under the campaign’s powerful message: One Nation, One Mission – End Plastic Pollution.
