In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Rawhaan Rafiq Buhroo, a final-year Political Science student of Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla, has made history by becoming the sole student from J&K to address the Parliament under the “Know Your Leaders” programme.
At the event, Rawhaan paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary, delivering an eloquent address highlighting Patel’s remarkable role in shaping India’s unity and integrity. Her participation marked a milestone in her journey from the serene valleys of Kashmir to the national stage.
Overcoming challenges of limited exposure and socio-political constraints, Rawhaan has emerged as a symbol of resilience, intellect, and determination.
Pertinently, "Know Your Leaders" Programme in Parliament is an initiative that brings selected youth from across India to the Parliament's Central Hall to pay homage to national leaders, commemorate their birth anniversaries, and learn about their contributions.
In recognition of her outstanding achievement, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla felicitated her during a special ceremony held at GDC Baramulla, in presence of the Principal, faculty members, and students. The DC lauded her performance and extended congratulations on behalf of the district administration.
The Principal of GDC Baramulla praised Rawhaan’s dedication, attributing her success to parental support, teacher guidance, and her unwavering spirit.
Rawhaan has earlier received several honours for academic and extracurricular excellence and multiple awards from district administration for youth leadership and empowerment.
A distinguished debater and public speaker, Rawhaan continues to represent J&K with distinction on national platforms. Her journey stands as a beacon of inspiration, especially for young girls in remote regions, proving that with education, confidence, and courage, every dream is achievable.
